A Walk For Education 2012

Our chapter’s AWFE was held on October 31, 2012 at North Charleston High School. Chapter members, wearing shirts to represent their college, visited a total of six classrooms and briefly talked to students about the importance of an education, while giving testimonials about their experiences and also informing them about career opportunities. We provided students with college information and helpful college preparatory information, and provided demonstrations of different technologies used within STEM careers. We’d like to thank everyone that helped make this event successful, including Nicole Duff, our Programs Chair, Edelena Smith from Communities in Schools, Tiffani Teachey, NSBE AE Region II Chair, and the teachers and staff at North Charleston High. Follow up events include revisiting North Charleston on November 14, 2012 to speak with another class as well as visiting a group of students at Burke High School on November 28.
